Pitt Lands Damarri Mathis

The recruits from Florida keep coming in for Pitt as they land a cornerback from the Sunshine State.

This afternoon, Pat Narduzzi and his staff got an early Christmas present when 3-star cornerback Damarri Mathis gave a verbal commitment to Pitt. Mathis was previously committed to South Carolina before dropping that commitment after meeting with defensive coordinator Josh Conklin.

Mathis is Pitt’s first cornerback commitment in this class and their 19th overall commitment. Good thing about getting Mathis is that he’s teammates with 4-star running back A.J. Davis, a player Pitt is in pursuit of.

How about the run on Florida players for Pitt? Mathis joins a Florida class of Deslin Alexandre, Jerry Drake, Dontavius Butler and Albert Tucker. Ton of credit goes to Conklin and Tim Salem for the job the success Pitt is having in that state.

Just a guess but I’d say that Pitt likely will take 4 or 5 more recruits, possibly more depending on departures. I’d als say that they’ll be taking at least one more cornerback.
