Pitt has had their eye on Connecticut cornerback and Boston College commit Jason Pinnock for a while now. A few weeks ago, defensive coordinator Josh Conklin got the OK to offer him a scholarship.

Now it looks like the Panthers could be getting some major competition in trying to recruit this talented cornerback.

Last night I spoke with Pinnock who informed me that he’s hearing from and could soon land an offer from Brian Kelly and Notre Dame.

“I was very surprised because I had no previous connection to them besides C.J. Holmes (Notre Dame commit), I was warming up for my track meet when I heard from them.I’m currently talking to new defensive coordinator Coach Elko who told me he’s ‘very impressed’ with my film and ‘talent wise no question they would offer me’. He says he has to check his many offers they still have to give out when he gets to the office on January 6th,” said Pinnock.

It’s been a crazy yet exciting month for Pinnock who’s currently committed to Boston College but is now getting recruited by Pitt and Notre Dame.

“Yes sir, it’s a bit exciting that I’m finally getting the recognition from these bigger schools, but it’s also making my decision very difficult and stressful because it’s late and getting close to signing day,” said Pinnock.

“If Notre Dame offers, they’ll no doubt be in my Top 3.”

With all this happening with Notre Dame, has Pinnock’s feelings about Pitt changed any?

“I’m still very excited about Pitt and I like the connection they have with Mike Tomlin and the Steelers, my mom is a HUGE fan. That’s a great recruiting source for the next level. I’m also building a very good relationship with both Coach Salem and Coach Conklin,” said Pinnock.

Pinnock is still scheduled to make his official visit to Pitt January 13-15.

It’s interesting that Pinnock is now the second “under the radar” recruit that Notre Dame is getting involved with, weeks after Pitt offered them. First it was Florida wide receiver Michael Smith (who they’ve now offered a scholarship to) and now Pinnock.
