Big Night Of Scholarship Offers By Pitt

Published

on

This is the time of the year that college football teams offer juniors and sophomores and last night Pitt did that in a big way.

By our count, the Pitt coaching staff offered scholarships to at least five juniors or sophomores. For at least one of the players, it was their first scholarship offer.

Antonio Alfano, 2019 Defensive Tackle, Rahway, New Jersey

Alfano is one of the two huge  prospects from New Jersey that heard from Pitt. Along with Pitt, Alfano also received an offer from Florida State yesterday. Alfano is a 247 Sports 4-star prospect that already had offers from Ohio State, Penn State, West Virginia, Virginia Tech and Maryland.

Tyler Friday, 2018 Defensive Tackle, Don Bosco Prep, New Jersey

Friday is the #1 ranked junior in the state of New Jersey and the #2 ranked defensive tackle and #38 ranked player in the entire country by 247 Sports. Friday holds offers from Alabama, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio State, Penn State, Tennessee, Virginia Tech and West Virginia.

Keidron Smith, 2018 Cornerback, West Palm Beach, Florida

Smith (6-2, 180) is a 247 Sports 3-star cornerback with offers from Duke, Iowa State, Kentucky, LSU, Louisville, Mississippi, Oregon State, Tennessee and Wisconsin.

Hunter Stewart, 2019 Tight End / Cornerback, Washington DC

This was Stewart’s first D-1 offer so this is obviously a huge deal for Stewart who attends Gonzaga HS.

Joseph Wete, 2019 Defensive End, Washington DC

Wete is a weak side defensive end for Gonzaga High School in Washington DC. Prior to Pitt, the sophomore held an offer from Virginia Tech.
