Surprise Name: McDougle Considering Pitt

Every year a team tries to add a surprise recruit days before National Signing Day. Last year, Pat Narduzzi was able to get a late commitment from Florida defensive tackle Keyshon Camp.

Could that exact scenario happen again this year?

Pittsburgh Sports Now has learned that Florida defensive tackle Lamonte McDougle is considering signing with Pitt on National Signing Day. This is very interesting because McDougle never made an official visit to Pitt.

McDougle (6-foot-1, 295 lbs) is a 247 Sport 3-star recruit from Plantation, Florida that holds 21 offers, including ones from West Virginia, Purdue, Washington State, Arkansas, Iowa State, Kentucky, Minnesota, North Carolina, Penn State, Stanford and Tennessee.

Moments ago, I talked with McDougle about his interest in Pitt.

“I got in contact with Pitt earlier this year probably sometime before the playoffs. I’m seriously considering them on Signing Day,” said McDougle.

“I know the history they have with producing great defensive lineman. From the conversations I’ve had with Pitt, they’d bring me in at nose tackle.”

McDougle tells me that he currently holds an offer from Pitt and has them as one of his final four teams.

“I will be choosing between West Virginia, Louisville, Florida International and Pitt. I do not have a leading school right now and I’ll make my final decision on Signing Day,” said McDougle.

This is a real interesting development with Pitt’s defensive line. Considering the commitment of Kam Carter and with young talent such as Amir Watts, Camp, Rashad Wheeler, etc, if Pitt could land McDougle, Pitt’s defensive line looks very strong for years to come.

UPDATE:

**In the last week, McDougle has been visited by Coach Sims.
