The Pitt football team closed out National Signing Day by landing a huge commitment.

Florida 4-star running back A.J. Davis made his commitment to Pitt on ESPN, which was a nice piece of national promotion for the Pitt program. The Lakeland, Florida back selected Pitt over offers from schools like Louisville, Auburn, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Tennessee and Virginia Tech.

247 Sports ranks Davis as one of the top 20 backs in the country and one of the Top 250 overall recruits. This means that Pitt’s two running backs (the other being Todd Sibley) in this class were both selected to play in the UA All-American Game.

Davis (5-11, 190) along with Sibley, Darrin Hall, Chawntez Moss and Quadree Ollison gives Pitt a ton of quality depth at running back.

I’ll have more on Davis shortly.
