A huge list of recruits were in town for Pitt’s second Junior Day of the off-season. Although they didn’t receive any commitments, it was generally considered a success for the Pitt program. Pat Narduzzi and his coaches laid the groundwork for getting future commitments.

As the recruits made their way home, I had a chance to reach a number of them to get their reaction to Pitt Junior Day.

Antonio Colclough, DE, Bronx, New York:

“The campus was amazing, great energy and the people were very kind. I loved the facility and it’s also really cool how we are in the same building as professional athletes (Steelers). I also enjoyed the amount of love coaches showed the players and also learning about how prestigious a Pittsburgh education is.”

Eric Wills, WR, Cincinnati, Ohio:

“I had a great experience at Pitt today! I was able to learn a lot of information about the history of the university, its strong academics as well as the football program. The environment was very welcoming. It was a family-like atmosphere. I was also able to spend some time with Coach Sherman and Coach Narduzzi. I can definitely see myself fitting in at Pitt.”

Jake Kradel, OG/DT, Butler:

“I had a great day at Pitt! Also got to talk to Coach Pete and Coach Narduzzi. Really had great conversations with Coach Pete about the schemes they run and how they operate! Pitt is high on my list.”

Jaylan Franklin, Athlete, Gibraltar, Michigan:

“I had a great day today, met with a lot, if not all coaches and talked to them briefly and learned plenty of information and I’m super glad I came down and got to see the facilities and the city itself ! I thought it was pretty neat that we got to see the Steelers facilities too and Mike Tomlin. Overall, Pitt moved up on my list a lot !

John Branham, RB, Columbus, Ohio:

“Great visit. Pitt is a true place of higher learning and top level sports. Pitt seems to want success on all levels for all involved. I can tell its a family community. Pitt appears to me to embody American life: Hard work, competition, family, faith and higher learning. Pitt coaches are very honest. That’s a big part, also. They also like the coaches to eat with the players.”

Isaiah Jones, S,  Philadelphia, PA:

“The visit went really well. I got to meet a lot of wonderful coaches and staff today. I got an exclusive look on a college that I could possibly see myself going to. I got to talk to Coach Conklin about school and sports, he is a very nice guy and I’m looking forward to seeing him and Pitt again.”

Aidan Rafferty, OT, Washington DC:

“I was impressed by the football facilities that they share with the Steelers. I was able to talk to Coach Narduzzi one on one which I enjoyed. We talked about the academics of Pitt, the city atmosphere, and my goals in looking for a college. He also said that he was impressed by my tape. Also, I was able to get to know Coach Peterson which I appreciated.”

Raymond Falcone, WR, Pine-Richland:

“Had a great time down at Pitt today. All the coaches were great and the facilities are awesome. Really enjoyed getting the chance to meet and talk with Coach Sherman. He shared some great stuff with the receivers and taught us a few things. Excited to come back up and watch a spring practice.”

Drew Painter, TE, Hershey, PA:

“The coaching staff made me feel like family. I like the way they run things and how the offense works. Coach Sherman and I had a good talk during the basketball game and same with Coach Salem. The academic side of things really impressed me and it has everything I want to see academically and athletically. I’m gonna go back to campus for a spring practice and look more into the program.”

Robert Kennedy, S, Jeannette:

“Right now, they basically want to see me at their camp in June and I’m pretty confident they’ll jump on me once they see me in June. I met wide receivers coach Sherman who’s just a classy guy and showed me how to read coverages. Their facilities were great and I loved their junior day in all.”

Bryce Lauer, OL/LB, Franklin Regional:

“I got a good opportunity to see what Pitt can do for me not only as an athlete but also as a student. The facilities were very impressive and the coaching staff was professional and would clearly provide athletic growth for myself. Where Pitt stands with me has not been cleared up yet, but Coach Harley has invited me to come to a camp sometime in June.”
