Is Duquesne’s search for a new basketball coach coming to an end?

Yesterday, Pittsburgh Sports Now reported that Duquesne’s administration was meeting in Pittsburgh with Akron head coach Keith Dambrot.

Our sources are telling us Duquesne should find out soon if he’s going to accept their offer.

We’re being told that Duquesne has offered Dambrot a 7-year deal with $7 million plus incentives.  That’s quite an offer from Duquesne and easily the highest salary they’ve ever paid a head coach.

Duquesne's 2024 March Madness Tournament coverage is sponsored by Leon's Billiards & More, Moon Golf Club and Archie's on Carson! Their contributions have allowed us to cover the Dukes run in Omaha, Nebraska. We appreciate their support!

Our source is telling us that Dambrot will make his decision today.

One other side note that may or may not be relevant. Dambrot’s son, Robby, who’s a really skilled soccer player, recently transferred from Akron to Pitt.
