The Pitt women’s basketball program picked up a talented player today.
The program announced that NJCAA All-American honorable mention Danielle Garven is joining the Lady Panthers team.
Garven will have two years of eligibility remaining with Pitt.
Last season at Chipola College (Marianna, Florida), Garven averaged 13.7 points and 7.5 rebounds. Garven’ college basketball career started at Minnesota before moving to Chipola.
“Danielle is a versatile post player and we are thrilled to welcome her to our Pitt family. She has played at a high level and brings a great deal of experience. Danielle has the potential to score in multiple ways and we expect her to make an immediate impact,” said Pitt coach Suzie McConnell-Serio.
The high level that McConnell-Serio was referring to was Garven’s international experience.
Garven has played for her home country (Team Canada) in the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championships in Russia and also competed at the 2013 and 2014 FIBA World Champioships.
One other thing concerning Garven. She comes from good blood lines, she’s cousins with Cleveland Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson.
