Pitt Hoops Offers 2018 Forward Jarvis Thomas

Minnesota isn’t a place the Pitt basketball program has recruited much over the last decade but Kevin Stallings is trying to change that.

One of the many offers by the Pitt basketball staff this week went to a forward from Orono, Minnesota.

2018 power forward Jarvis Thomas (6-foot-6, 190 pounds) got the news that his latest scholarship offer was from Pitt. Thomas now holds offers from Pitt, Arizona State, Iowa State, Marquette, Oregon State and Texas A&M.

“Coach Cage offered me and told me that he loves my motor, my ability to play above the rim and how I run the floor. They also like how I handle and pass the ball,” said Thomas.

This was the first ACC offer for Thomas and the Pitt staff believes he’s talented enough to fit right in with the big boys in the conference.

“Coach Cage said that they recruit guys that they think are good enough to go to the Duke’s and Carolina’s but those colleges don’t think we are good enough. He said they recruit hard workers and people who are most interested in winning.”

“As a player I run the floor all the time, defend hard, don’t get tired and play above the rim and I’m pretty good with the pass,” said Thomas.

Thomas tells me that of the schools that have offered, Pitt, Arizona State and Marquette interest him most. Although he doesn’t have anything scheduled, Thomas would like to visit Pitt.
