The day started like any other day for Thomas Jefferson defensive end Noah Palmer but it ended up being one of the biggest days of his life.

Palmer received the news that he’d earned a scholarship to the hometown Pitt Panthers.

“I got down at Pitt around 10:30 AM for a visit. I was there all day touring the campus and the facilities. Then around 3 or 3:30, my family and I got asked to go into Coach Narduzzi’s office,” said Palmer.

“We sat down and talked for awhile and then he said the words I want to offer you a full scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh. That brought tears to my moms eyes and I was filled with joy.”

“Pitt has been my dream school forever. Growing up I’ve bled black and gold and blue and gold.”

While Palmer (6-foot-4, 220 pounds) has always hoped for an offer from Pitt, he didn’t necessarily think one would come today. In fact, Narduzzi was the only person that knew an offer was coming.

“The offer surprised me. I talked with Coach Partridge and he didn’t know what was going on. He told me that Coach Narduzzi didn’t even tell him. I gave Coach Partridge the call later in the day that’s what Coach Narduzzi told me to do so I could personally give him the news. Coach Partridge was very excited too.”

Palmer told me that he talked with Coach Partridge a few days ago when he was visiting his Thomas Jefferson teammate defensive tackle Devin Danielson.

“Coach Narduzzi said they want me to play on the defensive side. They said I have what they’re looking for from the defensive end position,” said Palmer.

“I can do both at the defensive end position, rush the passer and play the run. Coach Partridge said he really wants to work with me and obviously I’m willing to do whatever it takes.”

If it sounds like Palmer is a heavy Pitt lean you’re right. It likely not a matter of if but when Palmer gives a commitment to his dream school.

“Pitt is huge for me. I’ve grown up all around Pitt and have always wanted to go Pitt. It’s actually a very high possibility for me, they’re just a great fit for me. I could very well see myself going there.”
