Over the last month, Pitt assistant coach Charlie Partridge has been a busy man offering recruits in his prime territory of Florida.
Yesterday, 2018 tight end Daniel Barker from Deerfield Beach High School in Fort Lauderdale heard from Partridge and the Panthers.

Aside from Pitt, Barker (6-foot-4, 230 pounds) now holds offers from Central Florida, Toledo, Marshall, Illinois and Florida Atlantic.
“I’ve actually had contact with Pitt going back to last year and they’ve been showing me love. I was waiting for them to pull the trigger with an offer and they did,” said Barker.
“Coach Partridge told me about the offer when I talked to him. I was definitely excited and it was one I’ve been waiting for. I was just excited and thankful.”
Pitt also offered Barker’s high school teammate 2019 linebacker Ge’mon Eaford and last year, the Panthers got a commitment from Deerfield Beach alum Deslin Alexandre.
“Pitt trying to make a presence in Florida is really noticeable. I noticed all these kids from South Florida getting offers from Pitt,” said Barker. “I talk with Deslin and Dontavius Butler (Pitt recruit) a lot and that could be a big impact on me.”
Barker tells me that in June his head coach and some teammates will be touring some colleges and would like to try to make a visit to Pitt.
