Big Day for Prospects at Pitt

Published

on

The second day of Pitt’s prospect camp continues this morning over on the South Side. Yesterday was more geared towards underclassman where as today they’ll be more 2018 prospects.

The biggest news yesterday was the offer made to 2019 4-star Louisiana cornerback Jordan Clark.

The thing to keep an eye on today is two recruits that hold offers from Pitt that will be visiting the Panthers facility.

DeMatha Catholic 3-star defensive end John Morgan and Ohio 3-star offensive tackle Jimmy McKenna are the names to watch.

Morgan (6-foot-2, 235 pounds) is a player that Pitt offered back in October and is the high school teammate of recent Pitt commit Judson Tallandier. The highly talented defensive end also is being pursued by Maryland, Virginia Tech, Kentucky and Penn State. Many believe Morgan’s decision will come down to Pitt or Penn State and he would be a big get for Pitt.

McKenna (6-foot-5, 245 pounds) is also a player that’s held an offer from Pitt for awhile (November 21) and is considered to be a Pitt lean. The Ohio tackle also holds offers from Illinois, Kentucky, Minnesota, Purdue, Rutgers and West Virginia.

Here are some other names that PSN has confirmed that will be camping at Pitt today.

**Mershawn Rice, 2019 wide receiver from Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Rice (6-foot-3, 200 pounds), who holds early offers from Kentucky, Cincinnati and Toledo, is a prospect that I could see getting a Pitt offer today.

**Jeremiah Burton (6-foot-2, 285 pounds), 2019 defensive tackle from Westerville, Ohio.

**Brandon Clark (6-foot-3, 185 pounds), 2018 athlete from State College.

**Keaton Ellis, 2019 cornerback/wide receiver from State College.

**Robert Kennedy, 2018 safety from Jeannette.

I’M WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM A NUMBER OF PROSPECTS TO CONFIRM IF THEY’LL BE AT PITT TODAY AND I’LL UPDATE THIS ONCE I GET CONFIRMATION.

UPDATE (9:04 AM)-
**
I’ve learned of three interesting names that will be at Pitt today and two have connections with the Steelers. Joey Porter, Jr, Riley Keller and Kyi Wright will all be there today.

In case you were wondering, Riley Keller is the nephew of Steeler quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. He’s a freshman quarterback at Whitmer High School in Toledo and already has offers from Toledo and Ole Miss. From what I’m told, Keller is a future star and despite being only a sophomore, might be the best prospect at the facility today.

UPDATE (10:28 AM)-
**
Four more local prospects on the South Side, Isaiah McNair (Quaker Valley), Ronnie Stevenson (Montour), Braden Brose (Hempfield) and MJ Devonshire (Aliquippa). None have a Pitt scholarship but I would keep my eye on Devonshire.

UPDATE (10:37 AM)-

**Although he’s not working out, a big name has arrived on the South Side. Aliquippa’s Kwantel Raines is at the facility and observing the camp. Any time you can get a recruit of Raines stature at your facility it’s good news.

UPDATE (11:02 AM)-

**Two prospects from Erie are working out. 2019 QB Joey Scarbino and linebacker Michael Shearer are at the South Side.

UPDATE (11:20 AM)-

UPDATE (4:15 PM)-

As we thought could happen, Pitt extended an offer to 2019 Ohio wide receiver Mershawn Rice, who attended today’s camp.
