Pitt hosted a number of intriguing prospects last weekend at their prospect camp. One of them happen to be talented 2019 Southbury (CT) Pomperaug Regional HS quarterback Trey (Philip) Dawson. The 6-foot-5 inch, 210 pound pro-style quarterback will be one of the more sought after signal callers in the east.
“I have been to Pitt before. I really like it there. Coach (Shawn) Watson is great. He’s a really good guy. I really like his scheme. He broke it down for me. The kind of coaching he gave was good as well,” he said.
Dawson was asked to elaborate on his strengths as a quarterback and he stated, “I’m an athletic pro-style quarterback,” he said. “I think my accuracy, arm strength and decision making are my strengths.”
Dawson has received interest from a large number of schools including Pitt, Auburn, Alabama, Rutgers, Boston College and Penn State. “I’m trying to keep everything unbiased at the moment in terms of schools. I’m trying to keep all of my options open at this point,” he said.
Pitt has made a favorite impression on Dawson. He elaborated a bit more on his initial impressions. “I think Pitt has a great goal. They want to be better than what they were last year,” he said. “I really like the campus. The urban campus appeals to me. Pitt also has most of the majors that I would consider. The overall team vibe is really, really good as well.”
Pitt has yet to offer a scholarship to Dawson but that could change in the future. Keep your eye on this strong armed prospect.
