UPDATE (3:20 PM)-

Western Pennsylvania has a strong history of football coaching, from Bill Cowher, Chuck Knox and Marty Schottenheimer to Marvin Lewis, Mike McCarthy and Jim Tomsula.

But one area that the area currently lacks is Divison I FBS coaches. Just one — New Mexico’s Bob Davie — hails from the WPIAL footprint. That’s as many as Johnstown (Ohio’s Frank Solich) and fewer than North Central West Virginia (Alabama’s Nick Saban and Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher) or Northeast Ohio (Maryland’s D.J. Durkin, Kentucky’s Mark Stoops, Toledo’s Jason Candle).

That info comes from an interactive feature on aHERO Sports that shows the birthplace of every Division I FBS head coach.

For the record, Pitt’s Pat Narduzzi was born in New Haven, Conn., but grew up in the Youngstown area.
