The Pitt football program doesn’t get many visitors from the state of Alabama but they did today.

2018 wide receiver Cameron O’Neil (6-foot-3, 190 pounds) and his parents made the long trip from Phenix City, Alabama to Pittsburgh in order to get an up close look at University of Pittsburgh.

This evening I spoke briefly to O’Neil about his visit and from all indications Pat Narduzzi and his staff made a favorable impression.

“The highlight of my day was getting to know and build a better relationship with the coaches and really me having the feeling that I felt like I was at home, that felt good,” said O’Neil.

“Getting to meet the coaches was great. I felt a connection like we were family already. As far as making the long trip, it wasn’t hard for them to get me here because I knew Pitt was a school that I’m interested in.”

As I mentioned, O’Neil was joined on the trip by his parents who were impressed with their first visit to Pittsburgh and the Pitt football program.

“My parents feel that Pitt has a plan for me and they feel comfortable with know with me being so far away, Pitt will make sure that I have everything I need to get through college,” said O’Neil.

Pitt isn’t the only program that’s interested in this talented wideout, O’Neil also holds offers from Virginia, Wisconsin, Illinois and Memphis.

I asked O’Neil what’s next for him and did Pitt help themselves today?

“My next move is just thinking things through and waiting until August 1st to announce where I’m going to commit to,” said O’Neil.

“Pitt definitely opened my eyes on the visit. I could really see myself going to college and playing football for Pitt.”
