2018 Big Man Amadou Sow Strongly Considering Pitt

Kevin Stallings continues to cast a wide a net searching for talented 2018 basketball prospects. One of the big men that has strongly landed on their radar is Napa (CA) Prolific Prep power forward/center Amadou Sow (6-foot-9 inches, 230 pounds).

“Pitt contacted me about two week ago. Coach (Dan) Cage was the first coach to talk with me. I spoke with Coach (Sam) Ferry after that. I’m excited about the Pitt offer,” said Sow.

Sow stated that while most schools are recruiting him as a power forward, a number of scouting services project him as a center.

Sow is originally from Mali, located in West Africa.

“I bring a lot of energy to the basketball court. I fly up and down the court and play hard every time,” he said. “I’m a strong rebounder and I can score every time I get it down low.”

Sow has received 13 scholarship offers, with Pitt, Illinois, California, Fresno State, Wichita State, VCU and Oregon State amongst his top schools. When asked what he was looking for in a school, he stated, “I want to visit school and build a relationship with the coaches. I want to feel comfortable with the coaches and players.”

“In a week I’m going to start planning visits. I would like to visit Pitt and learn more about the program and the coaches. I’m interested in playing the ACC conference. It offers the best competition. Pitt plays a lot of tough teams with a lot of big time players. I want to go against the best.”

Sow will start scheduling visits next week but it appears that the Panthers are strongly in the mix.

Currently the Panthers have one player committed for 2018, 6-foot-8 inch Saint James, MD power forward Bryce Golden.
