Pitt Makes 4-Star Forward’s Top 4

Over the last two years, Kevin Stallings and his staff have done a great job of being in the running for elite prospects. Unfortunately, they haven’t been able to close the deal.

If you’re an optimist, you have to believe that sooner or later if they keep kicking that door, they’re going to knock it down.

Tonight, the Panther program finds themselves in position to land an elite talent.

Zion Griffin, a 4-star forward from Darien, Illinois announced that Pitt is part of his Final Four. Griffin (6-foot-6, 208 pounds) is rated by 247 Sports as one of the Top 100 prospects in the Class of 2018.

Joining Pitt in Griffin’s final four are Kansas, Iowa State and Illinois State.

The interesting thing is that Pitt made Griffin’s final list despite just offering him last week. Tonight, PSN talked with the Illinois star about Pitt and the impression they’ve made on him.

“They make me feel like a priority and make me feel like I’m needed there,” said Griffin.

“Coach Dan and Coach Sam text or call me everyday and check up on me which shows they care. The relationship that I’m forming with the coaches means a lot to me and my family.”

Another thing that is appealing to Griffin is that the Pitt coaches are selling him on being the “man” in their offense.

Griffin tells me that he plans on making an official visit to Pitt in early September.

What about a decision date?

“I don’t know the exact but I’ll decide towards the end of September.”
