Narduzzi Declines to Name Starter During Rice Week Press Conference

Published

It was another tough week for the Panthers. The team got gashed by Georgia Tech’s triple option and managed only a single offensive touchdown in their 35-17. It drops the Panthers to 0-1 in the ACC and 1-3 overall. This week they face a Rice team ranked near the bottom in virtually every conceivable statistic.

In today’s press conference, Narduzzi wrapped up the Georgia Tech game, talked about the lack of a vertical passing game, Jester Weah’s struggles, moving Henry Miller to linebacker, Whitehead and Hamlin, the relative strength of the ACC as a conference, George Aston and more.

But the big news was the lack of a decision on who will start at Quarterback versus Rice. The Pitt depth chart, which was released earlier today, had first string quarterback listed as Ben DiNucci or Max Browne and Narduzzi’s comments today made it clear that either one could get the nod.

You know what, not really. To be honest with you, I saw him coming in right as I was walking out. I think he was the next one up (in the postgame press conference), I just said, hey, go in there with confidence; you’re still our guy. He is still one of our guys; we’ve got two of them we like. And I thought Max did some great things when he was in there, too, and I thought Ben did some nice things. …

You can watch the entire press conference below.
