RMU Likely to Play Some Games at Palumbo

A few weeks ago, the Robert Morris athletic department announced the men’s basketball schedule but had a few question marks.

While the Colonials’ new, on-campus UPMC Events Center is being built, PPG Paints Arena will be the home venue for most of the Colonials 2017-18 home games.

The uncertainty was due to a handful of home games that wouldn’t be able to be played at PPG Paints Arena because of conflicts on the arena’s schedule.

Pittsburgh Sports Now has learned that it’s looking like the games that RMU has a conflict with could be played at A.J. Palumbo Center, the home of the Duquesne Dukes. Nothing is official, but things appear to be headed that way.

The four home games without a host site yet are against Canisius (Dec. 22), St. Francis Brooklyn (Jan. 4), Bryant (Feb. 15) and Central Connecticut (Feb. 17).

The Colonials open the season on a seven-game road trip starting with the opener at Ohio State Nov. 10. It’s the longest stretch to open the season without a home contest for Robert Morris since the 2000-01 campaign.
