“Our area has had a few D-1 recruits over the last couple of years and Coach Salem has been up the last couple of winters. The first time I met him was last January, since then we’ve had some contact but then on September 1, he reached out and since then we’ve stayed in contact. This weekend was a good weekend for me to come down, so I let them know. They’re excited, I’m excited so we’ll see how it goes,” said Braden.

“This will be my first visit ever to the city of Pittsburgh. I’ve heard a lot of great things about the city. I have a few close family friends from Pittsburgh and they all rave about it so I’m excited to get to see it and try to get to know the area. We’re going to go out to dinner tonight and then I’ll be able to see the campus.”

“The Pitt football program has produced so many great NFL players and the fact that they share a facility with the Steelers. That’ll be cool to see so I’m excited.”

Braden (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) is looking for his first Power Five offer but he’s a talented player that’s known by the coaches. To this point, he’s made visits and has been hearing from schools such as Boston College, Duke, Buffalo, Holy Cross, Maryland and Navy.

“September 1 was that date that recruiting really began because that’s when we’re able to have real communication with each other. So far, I’ve been to a few schools but this visit kind of stuck out to me because it’s close to home and I’ve heard so much about Pitt and they’ve reached out. I believe this is huge because it’s my first time going down there, get to meet the coaches, see the campus and I think it’s a really important first step,” said Braden.

“Pitt is recruiting me as a linebacker and I believe I specialize in getting to the quarterback because that’s where my team needs me the most. I pride myself on getting to the quarterback.”

The other aspect that Pitt has to like about Braden is that he’s a winner. His high school, New Canaan, has won four straight state championships and last year, they took on the team of current Pitt freshman cornerback Jason Pinnock.

PSN will stay in touch with Braden and see how his visit to Pitt goes.
