Reaction From Former Pitt Commit Jay Symonds

By now you know that Massachusetts tight end/H-Back Jay Symonds decommitted from Pitt and instead will sign with Stanford.

This came as a bit as a surprise because Symonds was Pat Narduzzi’s first commitment in the Class of 2018.

Over the last few days some have speculated that this news was because of the start Pitt’s season or is a negative reflection on Pitt.

Tonight, PSN spoke to Symonds and asked him to address this talk and to give an accurate assessment of the situation.

“Coach Narduzzi, Coach Salem and all the Pitt coaches and staff were great to me and my family throughout the entire recruiting process and I definitely do not want my decommitment to reflect negatively on Coach Duzz, any of the coaches, the program or the school. Anyone who thinks I had problems with or questions about Pitt is 100% wrong and certainly never spoke with me. Coach Narduzzi is definitely building something great there and the other 2018 recruits are all really great players and I know Pitt’s going to be one of the top teams in the ACC every year,” said Symonds.

Thanks to Jay and all the best to him at Stanford.
