Chris Bleich is a player that the Pitt coaching staff has recruited for a long time.

The Panthers had recruited this talented Pennsylvania lineman prior to him verbaling early to James Franklin and Penn State and continued to recruit him after he decommitted in April. Bleich eventually ended up committing to UCLA at the end of June.

Guess what? Pitt continues to recruit him and on Monday, Pat Narduzzi made a visit to Bleich’s Wyoming Valley High School.

Narduzzi isn’t permitted to speak face-to-face with Bleich but spent time with his coaches.

This afternoon, PSN spoke with Bleich to get an update on where things stand with UCLA and also with Pitt.

“Right now, I’m still committed to UCLA but there’s a lot of talk about Coach Mora and uncertainty if he’ll still be there or not for me next year. So I’m just opening things back up for some schools and making sure I have a backup plan in case things fall through,” said Bleich.

Bleich already has official visits lined up, will Pitt get one?

”This Saturday I’ll be in Nebraska for an official, after that I’ll visit Mississippi State for the Egg Bowl, after that will be North Carolina and then I plan on taking one to Pitt but I still haven’t worked out a date for that one yet.”

Bleich tells PSN that Pitt has stayed in contact him the entire time he’s been committed to UCLA.

”It’s been pretty frequent conversations. I’ve talked a lot with Coach Narduzzi and Coach Peterson.”

“I think Coach Narduzzi is a great guy. Every time I get to talk with him on the phone, he’s always laughing and joking about something.  He’s one of those type of coaches that every player loves,” said Bleich.

Finally, I asked Bleich what is it about Pitt that has kept him interested in them this whole time and wanting to make an official visit there.

”They always have great linemen there. Coach Peterson is always producing great lineman and to me they’re a linemen school.
