PSN Announces Partnership With The Scoring Factory

We are very excited to announce a new partnership with The Scoring Factory.

In the coming weeks, look for more content authored in partnership with the Scoring Factory, including interviews, WPIAL basketball player scouting reports, and more. Plus we’ll have some great giveaways on Twitter, so be sure to follow both @pghsportsnow and @scoringfactory.

Started in 2009 by former Niagara basketball player Pete Strobl, the Scoring Factory is an advanced skills training program with multiple locations around the Pittsburgh area.

Strobl moved to the Steel City after a successful nine-year career as a player and coach in European professional leagues and recognized a demand for basketball training in the area. The Scoring Factory was first housed in the historic Market House on Pittsburgh’s South Side and then moved to the fifth-floor gymnasium of the Pittsburgh Athletic Association in Oakland. The organization eventually outgrew the Pittsburgh Athletic Association and now operates at gyms and satellite locations around Pittsburgh.

The Scoring Factory staff has grown to more than 15 coaches since its inception and focuses on all aspects of development, including body training. Featuring a youth academy that rivals some of the best teaching academies in the world, the Scoring Factory’s innovating and challenging curriculum helps players thrive in normal playing environments.

The organization has worked with student-athletes from nearly every Division I conference, including the ACC, Big 10 and WAC. Scoring Factory alumni have competed professionally in 25 countries around the world. Former players include DJ Kennedy, DeJuan Blair, Jamel Artis, and Mike Young, among others.

Strobl, who was a member of the Austrian National Basketball team and played in France, Austria, Germany, Iceland, Switzerland and Ireland, has developed a unique ability to break down shooting mechanics, footwork and ball skills into highly productive drills. He has also authored the award-winning book, Backspin, which details his journey from playing college basketball in the United States to playing professionally overseas.
