Things have gotten interesting for Pitt in terms of their recruiting of 2018 defensive backs.

In the last few days, Pitt has extended an offer to a few defensive backs including cornerback Rashad Ajayi from Fairburn, Georgia.

Up until a few days ago, Ajayi (5-foot-11, 175-pounds) had been committed to Georgia Southern but in the last week he changed his mind.

After months of talking with them, Ajayi finally got the news yesterday that he’d earned an offer from Pitt.

This morning, PSN caught up with Ajayi to ask him about the offer and of his current interest in Pitt.

”The first time I talked to Pitt was at a summer workout at Georgia while I was playing 7-on-7. I worked out then for Coach Conklin and Coach Hill, who told me they liked me and would be in touch,” said Ajayi.

”During the course of my season I didn’t hear from them a lot then around Thanksgiving they contacted me and told me they were very interested.”

“Coaches told me that I play the style of cornerback that they play at Pitt, press coverage and that they believe that I’d fit in really well there.”

Ajayi agrees with that description of his style of play.

”I feel I’m going to be a good man-to-man cover corner in college and I’m going to be a good tackler.”

Ajayi admittedly is still working to learn more about Pitt but does know and likes the fact that they’re partners with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He also pointed out that one of his favorite players is former Pitt cornerback Darrelle Revis.

Now that he’s a “free agent” again, Ajayi tells me that he’s scheduled three official visits: Pitt, Colorado State and Appalachian State. Ajayi will be coming to visit Pitt December 15-17.
