PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Pennsylvania boy’s high school basketball tipped off last week, and Pittsburgh Sports Now sat down with the Scoring Factory’s Jordan Harbison to discuss the top WPIAL hoops players.

Class of 2018
Robby Carmody – 6’4” G [Mars Area]: Committed to Notre Dame … ranked a four star recruit by several recruiting services … Harbison had this to say about the future Irish, “He is hands down the best player in the WPIAL this year. I’ve seen him the last three years in games, and he’s just on a whole different level…he’s been around basketball his whole life. I think the way he has developed, he’s got a great opportunity to go to Notre Dame and contribute right away. He’s big, 6-foot-4, and I know he’s been working on his body.”
Curtis Aiken – 6’1” G [North Allegheny]: Currently holds offers from Pitt, Tennesse, and TCU … ranked a three star recruit by 247 Sports … Harbison had this to say the about the Tiger guard, “He’s very composed from what I saw. He’s their point guard and manages the game. He’s a good shooter, can get to the basket, good handle, and he is flying under the radar because of Carmody.”
Coletrane Washington – 6’4” G [Quaker Valley]: Committed to Drexel … Harbison had this to say about the future Dragon, “He’s a good shooter and has some point guard skills—I think they move him to that position this year. The more he has the ball in his hands is good for him and Quaker Valley. He can get to the basket really easily, good moves, good ball handling, and he can shoot really well.”
Phil Jurkovec – 6’5” F [Pine Richland]: Committed to Notre Dame to play football … led the Rams to the 6A state championship in football this season … Harbison had this to say about the dual-sport athlete, “Physical, inside presence. He’s got good vision, which probably has to do with his quarterback skills, just seeing the court. If he didn’t end up choosing football, I think he could have played Division I basketball as well.”
Luke Nedrow – 6’7” F [Central Catholic]: Committed to Marist … Harbison had this say about the future Red Fox, “He’s a great player. Great shooter, big size, and he’s got some inside game as well. He has a little bit of a handle so he could have some outside game. So if you put a bigger guy on him, he can take him away from the basket and stretch him away.”
Carson Cohen – 6’2” G [Fox Chapel]: Committed to Tufts … Harbison had this to say about Cohen, “I think where he is going is a great fit for him. Good ball handling skills, can manage the game really well, and good shooter.”
Bryce Laskey – 6’3” G [Laurel Highlands] Committed to St. Francis (Pa.) … Harbison had this say about the future Red Flash, “Great shooter—he definitely has the green light to shoot. A scorer, and he definitely was their main option. From the outside, he wasn’t scared to pull almost anything, seemed like fastbreak or whatever, he was knocking down a good amount of shots. He’s definitely a scorer.”
Other names to watch from the Class of 2018 include: James Ellis – 6’10” F [Westinghouse Academy] … Ben Beale – 6’2” G [Freeport] … Anthony Roth – 6’1” G [Ellwood City] … TJ Banks – 6’5” F [East Allegheny] … Ryhan Culberson – 6’5” F [Fort Cherry] … Cameron Hanley – 5’11” G [Chartiers-Houston] … Tre Charles – 5’10” G [Union] … Zach McDonough – 6’2” G [Vincentian] … Chase Haring – 5’8” G [Eden Christian].

Other names to watch from the Class of 2019 include: Nate Ridgeway – 6’6” F [Sewickley Academy] … Lyndon Henderson – 6’5” G [Monessen] … Reed Fenton – 6’4” G [Latrobe].
Class of 2020
Ethan Morton – 6’4” G [Butler]: Has offers from Ohio State, Wisconsin, Iowa, Duquesne, Penn State, and West Virginia among others … ranked a four star recruit by 247 Sports and Rivals … Harbison had this to say about the talented sophomore, “The sky is the limit for him. With how big he is and how he’s developed so far, to have three more years before he goes to college, he can be like Robby Carmody and play in a big-time conference. Last year he was more of a pass-first point guard, but I imagine this year he will be more of a scoring option.”
Other names to watch from the Class of 2020 include: Kaden Divito – 5’11” G [Cornell] … Darrius Davis – 6’3” G [Propel Andrews] … Donovan Johnson – 6’4” G [Our Lady of Sacred Heart] … Luke Cochran – 6’0” G [Highlands] … Johnny Crise – 6’5” F [Highlands].
