The big news yesterday was the official announcement that redshirt freshman Thomas MacVittie would be transferring from Pitt.
While the news doesn’t have much impact on the 2018 Pitt roster, it does impact the way they’ll recruit for their Class of 2019.

The only two long-term quarterbacks that Pitt will have beyond next season are Kenny Pickett and incoming freshman Nick Patti.
Although I haven’t confirmed this with anyone, it wouldn’t surprise me if Pitt looked to take two quarterbacks in next years class.
Here’s an early look at some junior quarterbacks that are on Pitt’s radar.
At this point, Pitt has extended offers to seven quarterbacks, two of them have already committed to schools: Grant Gunnell to Texas A&M and Dwan Mathis to Michigan State.

Sam Howell (6-1, 205), 4-Star quarterback from Monroe, North Carolina. Howell holds offers from Duke, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, NC State, West Virginia, South Carolina and Tennessee.
Paul Tyson (6-4, 210), 3-Star quarterback from Trussville, Alabama. Tyson holds offers from Duke, Kentucky, NC State, Notre Dame, Oregon, USC and Wisconsin.
Davis Beville (6-6, 205), 3-Star quarterback from Simpsonville, South Carolina. Pitt is Beville’s only Power Five offer.
Taisun Phommachanh (6-3, 195), 3-Star quarterback from Bridgeport, Connecticut. Phommachanh holds offers from Maryland, Michigan and Minnesota.
Garrett Shrader (6-4, 200), 3-Star quarterback from Charlotte, North Carolina. Shrader holds offers from Alabama, Louisville, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Penn State, South Carolina and Tennessee.
