While the Pitt staff is looking to close this year’s recruiting strong, they also have an eye on the Class of 2019.

This afternoon, defensive coordinator Josh Conklin extended an offer to one of the top junior cornerbacks in the state of Georgia.

Jalen Alexander (5-foot-11, 160) from Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia picked up the offer from Pitt.

Alexander is a consensus 3-star recruit with an offer list that includes Auburn, Duke, Kentucky, Louisville, Mississippi State, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Right after getting the offer, PSN talked to Alexander about the news.

”Me, Coach Conklin and Coach Hill have been communicating for a while now. Today, Coach Conklin texted me and told me that he watched my film today and he thought I was a great player and told me to add a full ride scholarship from Pitt to his list,” said Alexander.

”I’m very humbled by the offer. I would love to learn more about the school and more about their team.”

Alexander is top end defensive back who considers his biggest strength is his leadership skills.

“Whether we are backed up and need to take a stand or if we’re flat and need a spark, I’m the guy who is looked at to get our guys going.”

Being from Georgia, I asked Alexander about the offer from Auburn and are they going to be tough to beat considering they were the first program to extend an offer to him.

”Auburn was my first offer and it’s a great school. They will always be at the top of my list as well as Pitt now. But this is all a process and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out,” said Alexander.

”I don’t have anything planned yet but Pitt will for sure be on the list I plan to visit.”
