The 2017 Pitt basketball team is comprised mostly of freshman as Kevin Stallings looks for a core group of players to build around.
While Marcus Carr, Shamiel Stevenson, Khameron Davis and Parker Stewart look like solid gets, the Panther staff still need to put together a couple more solid recruiting classes in order to add to their talent base and hopefully change the future of Pitt basketball.
For next year’s recruiting class, Stallings has three available scholarships and has filled two of them.
Maryland forward Bryce Golden (6-foot-7, 220 pounds) and JUCO guard Danya Kingsby (6-foot-1, 165 pounds) have already signed with Pitt. For that last scholarship, Stallings could be looking to add a 2018 transfer once that market opens up.

So, what about 2019? who are the Pitt coaches actively recruiting?
Brandon Stone (7-feet, 200 pounds, Christ School, Arden, North Carolina)
Stone is a name that most Pitt fans are familiar with. The former Southmoreland HS product is a rising prospect and someone the entire Pitt staff is pursuing. Just last week, Stone made an unofficial visit to Pitt for the Towson game. I’m sure Pitt would like to get an early commitment from him because the longer his recruitment continues, the more other schools will get involved and likely offer him. Stone has the size is the type of prospect that would excel in Stallings’ offense.
Alonzo Gaffney (6-foot-8, 185 pounds, Cleveland, Ohio)
Not only is Gaffney one of if not the top player on Pitt’s recruiting board, the Ohio native is one of the top recruits in the entire country. Currently, Gaffney is rated as one of Rivals Top 20 recruits in the country.
At this point, Gaffney has been offered by Florida, Louisville, Ohio State, Kansas and Michigan State.
Last week, Kevin Stallings was in attendance for one of Gaffney’s home games. Also, Gaffney made an unofficial visit to Pitt during the football season.
This talent won’t be easy to land but unless you’re Duke, North Carolina, etc. landing elite talent never is.
Tyrese Samuel (6-foot-8, 195 pounds, Upper Marlboro, Maryland)
Samuel is a 3-star forward that received an early offer from Pitt. Aside from Pitt, Samuel also has offers from TCU, South Carolina, Providence, Kansas State, UConn, Baylor, Virginia Tech, Vanderbilt and Wichita State.
Emanuel Miller (6-foot-6, 200 pounds, Canada)
Miller is an under the radar recruit that holds offers from Oklahoma, SMU and St. Bonaventure . Miller is another recruit from Canada that Pitt would like to bring into the fold.
