A talented player from Ohio will be another basketball recruit at The Pete for Pitt’s game vs. #7 Duke.

Carson Ryan is a 6-5 sophomore point guard from Youngstown, Ohio will make his first unofficial visit to Pitt.

Prior to his trip to Oakland, PSN caught up briefly with Ryan to find out more about him and get his thoughts on tonight.

“This is my first trip to Pitt and I’m very, very excited for tonight. I’ve been playing AAU basketball in Pittsburgh for the last 5-6 years. I love Pittsburgh, it’s a beautiful city and it’s a beautiful university, I’ve been checking it out. It would be a dream to go there,” said Ryan.

Since he’s only a sophomore, Pitt coaches aren’t permitted to have contact or speak with Ryan but knows that they’ve been checking in on him.

“One of my coaches, Shane Phillips, knows a guy at Pitt and he tells me they’ve been talking about me.”

Kevin Stallings and his staff are looking for players that have a well-rounded game and Ryan’s skill set would fit that criteria.

“I would like to think I don’t have a position. I think the best part of my game is that I don’t have a weakness. I can do a little bit of everything and will do whatever my team needs done to win,” said Ryan.

“I would like to think I’m a smart player and know how to play the game.”

Ryan currently holds an offer from Youngstown State and more offers will no doubt be on the way. The only thing on his mind tonight is getting to The Pete and checking out the Panthers.

“I’m very excited to see the atmosphere and I’m excited to be around it. I live for basketball.”
