Hayden Rucci is one of the top ranked junior tight ends in the country.

Yesterday, the Pitt Panthers became the latest team to throw their hat in the ring for his services when they offered him a scholarship.

Rucci (6-5, 225) is from Warwick High School in Lititz, Pennsylvania. Rivals rates Rucci has a 4-star recruit, the #2 junior prospect in the state and the 6th best tight end in the country.

At this point, Rucci holds offers from Boston College, Duke, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, Rutgers, Virginia, Wake Forest, West Virginia and Wisconsin.

Last night while he was traveling to Junior Day at Virginia Tech, PSN spoke to Rucci about his recruitment and offer from Pitt.

”Now that coaches are filling up their classes, teams are starting to move onto the 2019 Class and I can feel my recruitment picking up. It’s been fun so far,” said Rucci.

“I consider myself an all-around tight end. I can play on the line but flex out as well and can block in the run or pass game.”

After his trip to Blacksburg, Rucci told me he’s not sure if he’ll be making any more unofficial visits anytime soon. He does plan on making a couple of official visits in the spring.

Considering he’s going to be such a sought after player, I asked Rucci how he’s preparing for the attention he’ll be getting over the next year.

“For me, it’s all about showing people and teams respect. I never want to burn any bridges in Recruiting because you just never know. It’s all about respect.”

Finally, I asked Rucci about the offer from Pitt and what he knows about the program and university.

“Coach Salem and Coach Narduzzi first texted and contacted on Twitter me a week ago. Coach Salem told me that he and another coach will be out to see me in late January,” said Rucci.

”Then today he contacted me and asked to call him, I did and that’s when the offer came and I was really grateful for it.”

”Pitt is in state which is pretty cool for me. A big thing for me is Pitt has a good business school, and I’m looking at either business or engineering so that interests me about them. I’m interested in finding out more about them as time goes on.”
