The Pitt football coaches were busy yesterday and one of the many players that received an offer was Maryland athlete Bryson Shaw.

I refer to Shaw as an athlete because not only is he a star football player but he’s rated as the 8th best lacrosse player in the country.

On the football field, Shaw (6-foot-2, 175 pound) is a junior safety/wide receiver for Bullis High School in Bullis, Maryland. Rivals rates Shaw as a 3-star recruit with offers from Virginia, Maryland, Wake Forest, Duke, West Virginia, Syracuse, Rutgers, North Carolina, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Boston College.

After receiving the offer last night from Pitt, PSN spoke to Shaw about his thoughts on the Panthers.

“I was very happy and pumped to receive the Pitt offer. Their coach had visited me a couple of weeks ago and told me they would be offering me. I was told by my football coach today that the Pitt coach and Penn State coach was coming in tomorrow,” said Shaw.

”I did not expect an offer until maybe tomorrow but I received a text message from Coach Powell that they were offering me now and a coach will be in tomorrow to discuss in person with me.”

“I’ve watched Pitt football for years with my dad. They’ve had some great games the last couple of seasons especially the game against Clemson. My dad is a big Dan Marino fan! I Love the passion that Pitt fans have. I look forward to learning more about the school and campus,” said Shaw.

The name Bryson Shaw is a new one so we asked him to describe himself to Pitt fans.

“I am super competitive. I love football! I was a captain for my football team. I played both ways, as the starting safety, wide receiver, kick returner and punt returner. Two-time first team all conference, all met honors twice, USA Today All-Maryland selection. I hate when the football season ends.”

“My favorite sport has always been football. Although I have four offers to play both football and lacrosse, I’ll probably just focus on football for college. I am grateful and blessed at all the attention I have been getting in football since last season.”
