Habakkuk Baldonado is a name that’s new to most Pitt fans but get ready to hear more about him because he’s officially on the Panthers’ recruiting radar.

Last night, the rising prospect from Clearwater, Florida received an offer from Rob Harley and Pitt.

As an example of how Baldonado’s profile is rising, just yesterday he received in school visits from Michigan St, UCLA, Illinois and Oregon. Earlier in the week, he received an offer from Scott Frost and Nebraska.

Last night in between meeting with different coaches, PSN had a chance to catchup briefly with Baldonado to get his thoughts on the offer from Pitt. He was honestly surprised by how quick Pitt offered since he met them for the first time on Tuesday.

“The offer from Pitt was just great news. I really didn’t expect to receive it because I haven’t been in contact with them very long. I was surprised but grateful at the same time because for a guy that came to the United States from Italy with the dream of playing college football, every offer is just so special and a great thing,” said Baldonado.

“I lived in Rome for 17 years and always wanted to play football. I played football for four years in Italy with the first division team and for the national team. Since I feel in love with football, I just wanted to take it to the next level and play ball over here in America and get into a college to live out my dream. I then moved over here to Clearwater and I guess I had a pretty good year.”

“I’m just so grateful to every college that is showing me attention. My next college can be from the Sun Belt, maybe from the Big Ten, up North, I don’t know yet but I’m excited for what they can do for me,” said Baldonado.

Baldonado tells me that he plans on signing with a school in February so he’s now trying to determine his last few official visits. He tells me that he will make official visits to Michigan State and Nebraska.

“I was going to make a trip to Oregon but I don’t think that I will now. Pitt really looks like a school that I will visit now and a school that I would like to see.”
