Kyi Wright is no stranger to Pitt fans.

The super athlete from Farrell has held an offer from Pitt since last May.

Since then, Wright (6-foot-3, 210 pounds) has been back to Pitt for many visits including this weekend and was one of the many recruits on the South Side for Pitt’s Saturday practice.

“My main reason for going yesterday was to keep evaluating things and to talk with the coaches and to continue to build my relationship with them,” said Wright.

“I feel like my relationship with the Pitt coaching staff is good and I feel like it will continue to get better as time goes on”

Since he’s so familiar with the program, I asked Wright what the top thing that Pitt has going for them in his mind.

”The competitive nature that the team has right now. I honestly believe that they’re a team going in the right direction with Coach Narduzzi as head coach.”

Wright says that of all the Pitt coaches, he talks with tight end coach Tim Salem the most.

If you’re wondering why Salem is recruiting him, it’s because of the position that Pitt eventually sees him playing in college.

”In college, I’d like to play either linebacker or maybe even tight end. Every school that’s offered me so far have offered as a linebacker except for Pitt, they’ve offered as a tight end.”

”A factor that may play a role in where I eventually want to play is what the depth chart looks like at a particular school.”

Interest in Wright has really increased over the last couple month as he now holds offers from Cincinnati, Maryland, North Carolina, Syracuse, UCLA and Wisconsin.

“Right now, I don’t have a set time for when I’d like to commit, I’m just taking things day by day. Since I missed my junior season due to a knee surgery, a lot of schools want to see what I can do in the games,” said Wright.

Wright tells me that up next for him will be visits to Maryland (this weekend), North Carolina and Memphis.
