Pitt landed a top recruit from Lackawanna C.C. last year and are hoping to land a commitment from one of their top players again this year.

Last night, Pitt extended an offer to Anthony Whigan (6-foot-5, 290 pounds) who’s considered one of the top JUCO offensive tackles in the nation.

The Pitt staff was able to land OT Chase Brown from Lackawanna C.C. last year.

Along with Pitt, Whigan has been offered by Penn State, Nebraska, Maryland, West Virginia, TCU, Louisville, Missouri and Syracuse.

“This offer from Pitt means a lot to me. They have a guy from Lackawanna that I played with last year, Chase, who I’m really close with. They told me that I’m one of their top priorities on the offensive line,” said Whigan.

Whigan received the offer from offensive line coach Dave Borbely and said it didn’t come as a surprise considering the amount of communication he’s received from the Pitt staff. He says that someone from Pitt has been reaching out to him every day or every other day and that definitely makes him feel like a priority.

The Pitt coaches aren’t the only ones trying to get Whigan to join the Panthers as Brown is turning into a recruiter and hopes to help them land this talented lineman.

”Chase is my guy and I actually look as him like a big brother. He’s given me a lot of advice about the recruiting process and I think he’s going to play a role in my recruiting process,” said Whigan.

“He’s kept everything real with me. He tells a lot about Pitt, like how the coaches coach, the food, the living situation. He’s loving it at Pitt.”

Whigan will have a chance to check things out himself because he tells PSN that he plans on visiting Pitt this summer. Other upcoming visits for him include Penn State, West Virginia and Maryland.
