Will Capel Hire Keep Players From Transferring?

Will Capel Hire Keep Players From Transferring?

Now that Pitt has hired Jeff Capel, the question now turns to which players from last year’s team will be returning?

As Pittsburgh Sports Now has reported, eight players from last year’s team asked and received permission to be released from their scholarship in the event they wanted to transfer from Pitt.

Most players said they wanted to see who was hired before they made a final decision. Will Capel get some of the players to change their minds?

PSN has been able to confirm that guard Jared Wilson-Frame has made up his mind and will return to Pitt for his senior season. Last year, Wilson-Frame averaged 13 points and 3.5 rebounds per game in his first Division I season after transferring from Northwest Florida State junior college.

Small forward Shamiel Stevenson announced on Instagram that he will be returning to the Panthers.

Are you leaving?…. Nah fam mans are staying stillll🗣😂 #H2P

PSN has also confirmed that a third player will be also likely be returning, but wants to speak with Capel before making an announcement.

PSN will continue to work this side of the story and update this as we receive more information.

Frankly I’m hoping most of them decide to move on to other venue’s. Let Coach Capel bring in the recruits he thinks he needs to compete in the ACC.

Forget our own crappy players; steal some of the guys you’ve got committed to Duke, JC!

He should try keeping as many as he can. There is talent in the group and they’re good kids, who are battle tested. Give them the opportunity that our fans and the administration tried to take away, the chance to grow together.

It’s not fare to call them crappy players. These are first year kids thrown in to compete in the toughest league without much coaching. There were destine to fail. Let’s see what Coach Capel thinks about about these and I’ll bet he hangs onto a few…..Great hire…H2P
