Jeff Capel’s ability to recruit is considered one of his biggest strengths and today he’ll be making his first big local recruiting visit for Pitt.
Pittsburgh Sports Now‘s Harry Psaros has learned that Capel will travel to Kennedy Catholic to meet with three talented players: Maceo Austin, Oscar Tshiebwe and Brandon Stone.
Austin and Tshiebwe are juniors at Kennedy Catholic while Stone, formerly of Southmoreland High School, is a junior at a North Carolina Prep School.
This meeting will be Capel’s first face-to-face talk with this trio of players and it’s important because Pitt is on the outside looking in for each of these guys.
Austin and Tshiebwe are both believed to be leans toward Bob Huggins and West Virginia while Stone is waiting to hear from Capel before he decides his future. Prior to the firing of Kevin Stallings, Stone had Pitt in his final four along with Duquesne, South Carolina and Penn State.
Stone (6-foot-11, 200) is leaning towards reclassifying to the Class of 2018, so if Capel has interest in Stone, today could be key.
Austin (6-foot-4, 170) is a talented shooting guard but is versatile to play other positions. He currently holds offers from Richmond, West Virginia, Virginia, Xavier and St. Joe’s.
Tshiebwe (6-foot-9, 230) is a physical 4-star forward with major offers from West Virginia, Clemson, Georgetown, Oklahoma State, Virginia, Virginia Tech and Penn State.
PSN will have more on his story throughout the day.
