Sights and Sounds from Pitt’s Final Spring Practice

As the Pitt Panthers and the team’s fans count down the days to the 2018 Blue-Gold Game at Heinz Field, Pittsburgh Sports Now will break down the most important things to watch this Saturday.

PITTSBURGH — For the final day of spring practice in 2018, Pitt took things outside to work for the first time in a practice setting.

On the fields behind the Duratz Athletic Complex on the South Side, the Panthers worked out in shorts and shoulder pads, with a focus on ball skills.

Pitt finished 64th in the country in turnover margin in 2017, so that’s been a focus of the team all spring.

But the fact that the team was able to get out into the conditions made it an even better opportunity to get out on the grass field and the the ball in the dirt — in some cases literally.

Pitt spends all spring practicing on the turf at the team’s indoor practice facility, so it’s probably a good thing that the weather finally gave the team an opportunity to practice in the same conditions that they’ll play in on Saturday and all season long at Heinz Field.

Here’s the Panthers’ defense working on getting the football on the ground.
