Cornerback Tiawan Mullen is a player that’s very high on the Pitt football recruiting board.

The three-star recruit from Coconut Creek High School in Pompano Beach, Florida has serious interest as well because on May 23, he released a list of Final Five teams that included Pitt as well as Ole Miss, TCU, Nebraska and Indiana. Mullen also held offers from Power Five schools such as Mississippi State, Louisville, Michigan State, Kentucky and Syracuse.

This past weekend, Mullen made the trip from Florida to take part in Pitt’s prospect camp and will be returning tomorrow to make an official visit to Pitt.

“I think I performed pretty well at the camp,” said Mullen. “They liked my foot work, I’m a very quick guy with very good technique. The coaches treated me like I was at home and told me that they believe I can make a great impact at Pitt if I decided to commit. They say I can play either at cornerback or at the nickel slot which would be great.”

Mullen mentioned something that stood out the most to him from over the weekend.

“The thing that impressed me most was how as soon as I stepped on campus, Damar Hamlin and Paris Ford they treated me like family and like their little brother,” Mullen said. “They brought me in and I felt very comfortable around them and they showed me a lot of love.”

Since he was just in Pittsburgh, what will be different for Mullen about his official visit weekend?

“I’m going to have fun this weekend but also treat it as a business trip,” he said. “Then when I go to the other colleges for visits, I’ll think about the big differences and the things that I like.”

Mullen will be joined tomorrow by fellow Floridians Daniel Carter, Nikolas Ognenovic, Dane Belton, Darrell Harding, Kaleb Boatening, Julian Hernandez, Brandon Hill and Khadry Jackson.
