The flurry of Pitt commitments continued as linebacker Khadry Jackson verbally joined Pitt’s Class of 2019.

Jackson (6-2, 200) made the decision prior to leaving Pittsburgh from his official visit weekend to go back to his home in Orlando, Florida.

Last weekend, Jackson received an offer from Pitt while participating in their camp and a week later he made his college decision.

Aside from Pitt, Jackson held Power Five offers from Iowa State, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, North Carolina, North Carolina State and Rutgers, plus a host of G5.

After letting Pat Narduzzi and the Pitt staff know he was committing Sunday morning, Jackson messaged PSN to give us the news first.

What made Jackson decide to give Pitt a commitment today?

“The fit and scheme that they have here on defense,” said Jackson. “They see me playing the Star Linebacker position/hybrid safety role where I can come down and make plays and also drop back into coverage. I think this is a great defensive fit for me. Plus, being around all the players this weekend, it just felt like the right decision and where I wanted to be.

“I didn’t think that I would be committing this weekend but Pitt and Pittsburgh just started to grow on me. I prayed on it and talked with some people that I trust and just knew this was the right decision.”

Jackson made the decision before leaving for the airport back home to Orlando.

“I actually told [linebackers] coach [Rob] Harley first,” Jackson said. “He actually didn’t believe me at first and was like ‘What?’ but he was real happy and going crazy. After that, we went over to Coach Narduzzi’s office to tell him and I had to wait because …….. was already in there giving a commitment. Coach Narduzzi was really happy.”

Pitt had a record number of kids make official visits this weekend and Jackson loved the decision to bring all the Florida players up together for the same weekend.

“It was a great decision because I was very comfortable and up here with a couple of my friends,” Jackson said. “We all bonded and seemed to have a great time with each other. I loved it.”
