Pitt men’s basketball coach Jeff Capel formally announced the signing of New Mexico State graduate transfer Sidy N’Dir on Friday morning.

N’Dir, a native of Cosne in the Burgundy region of France, started all 34 games for the Aggies in the 2017-18 season. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound guard will have one season of eligibility remaining with the Panthers and will be able to play in 2018-19.

“Sidy is an outstanding athlete with the ability to help lead our young group of guards,” Capel said in a press release. “His ability to play multiple positions on the perimeter and compete at a high level on both ends of the floor will be important as we develop our team next season. He has experienced both team and individual success throughout his career and is well prepared to be a key contributor in our program. We look forward to watching the positive impact Sidy will have on the team with his athleticism, attitude and experience.”

Pitt has also officially added walk-on freshman guard Curtis Aiken, Jr. to its roster. Fellow walk-ons Joe Mascaro and Anthony Starzynski are also returning, giving the Panthers 15 players heading into 2018-19.

Capel still has one open scholarship to work with, should he choose to use it.
