Jeff Capel hasn’t been shy about trying to recruit elite talent to come play for Pitt.

Of Capel’s 27 offers to high school juniors, 20 of them have gone to players that are current four or five-star recruits.

One of those players reportedly will be making a visit to Pitt next month.

Adam Zagoria of FloHoops is reporting that elite 2019 center Kofi Cockburn plans on making a trip to Pittsburgh in August. Cockburn, who’s from Christ the King High School in New York, is a 5-star recruit and rated as one of the Top 25 players in the country.

Zagoria report says that Cockburn has recently made unofficial visits to St. John’s and UConn. Aside from Pitt, Cockburn also wants to go see Kansas and Illinois.

After getting hired, Capel’s first out of town recruiting trip was to New York and Cockburn was one of the players he went to see. Capel and the prospect of being a player that Pitt builds around is something that is attractive to Cockburn.

Cockburn isn’t the only elite talent showing some early interest in Pitt.

Last week, 5-star power forward Aidan Igiehon from Woodmere, New York released a Top 10 that included Pitt.
