Football is–almost–officially back.

Tomorrow morning, Pittsburgh Sports Now will be over on the South Side as the Pitt football team will have their first official fall practice.

Alan Saunders will once again lead our coverage as PSN will bring you the best and most comprehensive coverage of the 2018 Pitt Panthers. PSN will be camped out this fall at Panther practice and will have daily training camp notes, video interviews, sights and sounds from practice and feature stories on Pitt players.

Once camp ends, we will follow Pitt in their opener against Albany all the way till the season finale against Miami (FL) on November 24. We will be covering Pitt football both home and away.

As a way of kicking off the official start of Pitt football season, we have a special giveaway for our PSN Die-Hard Subscribers.

Tomorrow night at 6 PM, we will be giving away a Pitt throwback game jersey to a lucky subscriber. This won’t be the only game jersey we giveway this year. We’re fortunate enough to have six jerseys that we’ll be giving away at various times this season. We’ll be giving away at least one other jersey during the month of August so you’ll want to be signed up as a PSN Die-Hard member.

Aside from having the opportunity to win these jerseys, as a PSN Die-Hard member, you’re going to be getting a bunch of exclusive Pitt Athletics, Duquesne Athletics and HS football and basketball recruiting coverage. Being a member only costs you $3.99 per month or $38.99 per year.

PSN’S HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL COVERAGE

High school football will also begin this month and we’re excited to announce that for the second straight season Dunkin’ Donuts will be our title sponsor for our high school football coverage. PSN will provide month long player preview stories and then when the season starts, we’ll be covering a Friday Night Feature Matchup someplace in Western Pennsylvania. We’ll also be providing coverage of Pitt football recruiting targets and have the WPIAL Friday Night HS Football Scoreboard.

As part of our coverage, we’ll name a weekly Dunkin’ Donuts Player of the Week, who will receive a Dunkin’s Donuts Gift Card and then at the send of the season, we’ll name a Player of the Year.

PSN is looking to add a part-time writer for our high school football coverage so if you’re interested, please contact Mike Vukovcan (mvukovcan@gmail.com) or Alan Saunders (saunders1407@yahoo.com).

SOME NUMBERS

July is typically our worst month for visitors thanks to the NCAA mandated dead period. Last month the news was both good and bad as PSN received 403,659 page views, our best July ever, but also the worst month since July 2017. With the start of Pitt, Duquesne and high school football camps, we expect a large increase as viewer interest picks up heading into the start of the various football seasons.
