Duquesne Football Receives Votes in FCS Preseason Top 25

Many people believe the 2018 Duquesne Dukes will be a very successful team. It looks as though a group of sports writers and sports information directors agree.

In the initial FCS Preseason Top 25 rankings, the Duquesne Dukes weren’t ranked but did receive three votes.

The rankings are voted on by a national panel of sports information and media relations directors, broadcasters and writers.

As expected, North Dakota State, the defending champions are the top ranked team after receiving 151 first-place votes. They were followed by James Madison, South Dakota State, Sam Houston State and Kennesaw State.

The Northeast Conference was represented with both Duquesne and Central Connecticut State (23 votes).

At the completion of the season, a 24-team FCS field will be selected with the championship game being played on January 5 in Frisco, Texas.

Duquesne opens the 2018 season on August 25 as they travel to UMass.
