Although they’re right in the middle of camp, the Pitt staff haven’t given up on recruiting. In fact, they’ve just extended an offer to a highly rated junior quarterback.

Last night, 2020 4-star quarterback Parker McQuarrie of Weare, New Hampshire got the news from the Pitt staff.

“Well I had first learned that Pitt was a little interested in me after getting a few follows from the coaches over social media,” said McQuarrie. “After a few days has gone by, Coach Salem got in contact with my head coach over at St. Paul’s and he told me to give Coach Salem a call and that’s when he offered me.”

“I was very excited because I really like Pitt’s program. I’m excited to stay in contact with the coaches and hopefully get down to campus. What I know about Pitt is that the coaches really seem to care for their players players and the program just seems like it would be a great one to be a part of. Also, the academic side of Pitt is very attractive because of the great things that they have to offer.”

Pitt joins Michigan, Boston College and Rutgers with early offers to McQuarrie; who’s appreciative of the attention.

“It really means a lot to have these programs show interest in me because it shows me that they really trust in me as a player and a person to have an impact on their program,” said McQuarrie. “It’s been a goal if mine to play football at the highest level and these programs are making this a possibility for me, which I am very grateful for.”

McQuarrie tells me that he’s still working on areas of his game but that if he had to list his strengths it would be delivering a strong throw in the pocket and that he’s improved his play-making outside the pocket.

It’s still early in his recruiting process but Pitt appears to be a place that this talented quarterback will consider.

“I am definitely very interested in Pitt. What stands out to me is their great football culture and the great academics that they have to offer. I see myself going on a unofficial visit to Pitt at some point and would love to go to check out the campus.”
