Following an important 31-26 win over Dayton, two Duquesne Dukes were honored by the conference.
Wide receiver Nehari Crawford and Brett Zanotto were named NEC Conference Players of the Week.
The fact that Crawford won the award came as no surprise considering his performance. The preseason All-American caught a career high 11 passes for 223 yards and two touchdowns. The 223 yards receiving was the fourth-highest total in the history of Duquesne football.
Zanotto registered a career-high 10 tackles (9 solo) and two tackles for loss on Saturday. The former Franklin Regional linebacker came up big late in the game for the Dukes which enabled them to hold on for the victory. With Duquesne leading by five points with a minute left and Dayton in the Duquesne red zone, Zanotto made three consecutive tackles to stop the Flyers drive.
The 3-1 Dukes return to action this Saturday night as they travel to Hawaii (3-1), which is coming off a 28-21 loss to Army.
