Norwin’s Jayvon Thrift Commits to Youngstown State

Norwin safety and running back Jayvon Thrift has committed to Youngstown State, he announced through his Twitter account late on Saturday.

Thrift, a senior at Norwin, held several FBS offers, including Pitt, Syracuse and West Virginia, but it’s unclear how many of those offers were still committable.

The Penguins were the latest team to extend an offer to Thrift, doing so on June 22. Fellow Norwin defensive back Gianni Rizzo committed to Youngstown State on Aug. 3.

Sources tell Pittsburgh Sports Now that Pitt is not looking to add another safety to its 2019 class at this time. Pitt received commitments from Florida safeties Brandon Hill and Khadry Jackson on June 17.

Thrift was the first Class of 2019 WPIAL player to get an offer from Pitt back in March 2017. The Mountaineers were Thrift’s first offer.

Thrift’s other offers included Army, Bowling Green, Buffalo, Indiana, Ohio, Robert Morris, Temple and Toledo.
