Pitt wide receiver and kick returner Maurice Ffrench has been named to the CBS Sports midseason All-America team as a kickoff return specialist.

Ffrench, a junior, was one of three unanimous selections. He is one of two players in the country with more than one kickoff return for a touchdown. He returned the Panthers’ opening kickoff of the 2018 season against Albany back for 91 yards and returned the opening kick of the second half against No. 5 Notre Dame on Saturday for 99 yards and a score.

Terrence Horne of South Florida is the only other player with two kickoff return touchdowns this season. Ffrench ranks second nationally in kickoff return average with 33.8 yards per attempt, behind only Josh Jacobs of Alabama, who is averaging 34.2 yards per kick return.

Ffrench is the first Pitt player to earn All-America honors since Quadree Henderson was a consensus All-America return man in 2016.

In addition to his prowess in the return game, Ffrench is also Pitt’s second-leading receiver with 219 yards and two touchdowns on on 17 catches.
