Recruits get five official visits, and a current Pitt commitment plans on taking another one.
Defensive end Bryce Nelms plans on checking out his hometown school.
Minutes ago, Nelms returned a message from Pittsburgh Sports Now and confirmed that he will make an official visit this weekend to Rutgers.
“I am taking my remaining official visits as I prepare for early signing day in December,” Nelms said.
He didn’t answer when asked if he plans on making any more official visits after Rutgers.
The West Orange, New Jersey native also holds offers from Boston College, UConn, Duke, Kentucky, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Carolina, Syracuse, Central Florida and Virginia.
There’s been speculation that Nelms would be de-committing from Pitt but last week, Nelms reached out to PSN and said that he was committed to Pitt. He also said that him retweeting messages from other schools didn’t mean he wasn’t completely committed to Pitt.
This news probably doesn’t come as a surprise to the Pitt staff, because they’ve actively been looking at other defensive ends probably as a counter to Nelms possibly leaving.
Pitt has commitments from three other defensive ends: Deandre Jules, Bam Brima and Brandon Mack.
