PITTSBURGH — Tuesday night at Petersen Events Center will be a fresh start for Pitt basketball.
The program will turn the page from the embarrassment of the 8-24 2017-18 campaign that saw the Panthers fail 19 consecutive times to gain a win in ACC play.
For the players that remain that were part of that team, which include projected starters Terrell Brown, Malik Ellison and Jared Wilson-Frame, reserves Kene Chukwuka, Khameron Davis, Samson George and Peace Ilegomah and all the way down to walk-ons Joe Mascaro and Anthony Starzysnki, it represents a chance to finally put the specter of the previous season behind them and start on something new.
For head coach Jeff Capel, it’s a fresh start as a head coach after being fired by Oklahoma seven years ago and patiently waiting for the right opportunity ever since.
And for Pitt’s three freshman, it will be a first chance at playing in a collegiate atmosphere.
Here’s Capel, Davis and transfer guard Sidy N’Dir about the opportunity the Panthers have this season.
