Jeff Capel continued his quest to improve the Pitt basketball program as future changes were announced to the Peterson Events Center.

Today, a new reseating plan for the 2019-20 men’s basketball season was announced.

The school released the changes and the biggest difference is something that people have been wondering about for years.

Starting next season, the team benches will be moved directly in front of the Oakland Zoo. This means that people watching the games from home will get to see the Pitt student section, which they aren’t able to do with the current configuration of the gym.

“It was important to me when I accepted this job to make the students a vital part of our program,” said Capel. “Flipping the court will allow us to better showcase the Oakland Zoo and enhance the overall gameday atmosphere at the Pete.”

The schools also says other changes will include changing the position of the pep band, relocate camera positions and flip the script Pitt at center court.

These changes and reseating will impact the fans because they’ll now have a new opportunity to select their preferred seats within the new seating configuration. Pitt says that they’ll use its priority points system to determine reseating order with Panther Club members with 2018-19 season tickets receiving first priority.

The reseat order is as follows:

Group A: 2018-19 Season Ticket Holders who have an active membership in the Panther Club. (Ordered by priority point rank).
Group B: 2018-19 Season Ticket Holders not in the Panther Club. (Ordered by renewal date).
Group C: 2019-20 New Season Ticket Holders who have an active membership in the Panther Club. (Ordered by priority point rank).
Group D: 2019-20 New Season Ticket Holders not in the Panther Club. (Ordered by purchase date).
